they are the hardest part for me too.

i fall back on song lyrics or lines from poetry a lot.

i try to match the title to the theme.

but it's HARD.

Yeah. I'll try to match from poetry or literature; but often, I can't find anything that fits and so I'll go with a "theme" title. And then two years later I'm looking at my master list and I've forgotten what story goes with which title for some of them and I can't guess from the title.

Sometimes I get Inspired by a relevant quote or songbit that was in my head while I was writing.

But my all-else-fails approach? I skim the story for some combination of words relevant to the overall theme and copy them into the Title: field. Which can sometimes result in pretty bland titles! But on the other hand: a title! =)

I rarely have relevant quotes or songs going through my head as I write, alas--when I use bits of literature/music in titles, it's almost always a frantic scramble through Google, poetry websites, and quotations websites as I'm getting ready to post.

Ugh, titles are the worst. I fall back on poetry quotes a lot, too; that, or I let my roommates name them, which has worked surprisingly well the last couple of Yuletides.
