Date: 2021-06-19 09:05 pm (UTC)From:As with Hamilton, the problem isn't that the movie exists as it does. The problem is the larger context in which movies with decent representation are rare. If there were a wide variety of mainstream media featuring diverse Latine characters (white, Black, mestizo, and every other variation), this movie would be just fine. The solution is not to jump on the one movie that's at least half-assing diversity, it's to jump on all the ones that DON'T.
Aargh.
