Exactly. But they have to make at least some money on it, and it can't be a cheap show to run. Lots of special effects, and things, and granted those are much cheaper now than they used to be, but still. And a large cast, too, and when people like Samuel L. Jackson gets a cameo ... granted, he's doing the MCU stuff because he loves comic books. But you can't pay him peanuts for his time. So they do need an audience.
