Star Trek Into Darkness--they stole from Carey's novels again!

Have just gotten back from seeing the movie, and I think that the writers were at it again, stealing things from old classic trek novels.  In STXI, this was Vulcan Culture from Spock's World by Diane Duane and Jim Kirk's past as a bad boy from Best Destiny by Diane Carey, which they admitted in at least one article that I'm too lazy to look up now.  (I know I linked to it a while back.)

Now, in STXII they stole pretty obviously ( Spoiler alert! )
