Nov. 22nd, 2012 11:16 amFor those of you who are not from America, the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade is a big deal. People come from all over the country--actually, there are some internationalentrants, too--to walk the parade. The amount of time and money that goes into this is incredible. Huge floats, huge floating baloons, pop stars, dancers, movie stars, marching bands, lots and lots of glitter.
Almost every float has some kind of music with it. And a lot of the floats, I'm pretty sure it was chosen on a basis of "We have a really cool float--what minor/up-and-coming pop star can we get to sing?" Some of the combinations of float and music are random, and others are just ... surreal.
And then there are random celbrities on some of the floats who don't sing. I'm not sure what Whoopi Goldberg was doing on that pirate ship, but she seemed to be having fun doing it, so.
