Intarwebs halp!
Dec. 16th, 2010 11:06 pm$*#%!ing Yahoo is closing Delicious. I need to find a bookmark site to replace Delicious. I use it because
a) I like using tags to find certain types of stories. I have over 1900 links, mostly fic, and searching by tags makes it easier to find a certain type of story than browsing through my folders of bookmarks in my browser. I like the format the links come up in; it's easy to browse, and it's different than the folders that my bookmarks are stored in on my browser, which allows me two different ways to surf my bookmarks. Basically, I don't want something divided up into folders and I have to know specifically which folder I'm looking for. I want something where everything shows up at once, and I can narrow the list by clicking on a variety of tags and bringing up, say, every futurefic.
b) It's a backup of the links in my browser
c) I like having the link from my DW account so that anyone looking for fic recs can click on it and find fics without me having to go to the trouble of actually writing up a rec. Not that many people probably do this, but I like the idea. I also like that I can choose to keep some links private, so that if, say, a parishioner stumbles across it he/she will not be shocked and horrified.
Basically, Delicious was exactly what I wanted in a bookmarking website.
So, o intarwebs, which of the bookmark sites available can do the best job of taking over for Delicious? Which will be most similar?
Mozilla Sync seems to be mostly about synching different devices so they have the same tabs/bookmarks. On the plus side, I know it will work well with my browser, as I use Firefox.
Xmarks seems to be much the same thing.
Diigo has a lot of cool features, but not ones I think I would use. I really don't care about highlighting and annotating and all that jazzy stuff. I just want to bookmark things with tags. It seems to be what I want, just with a bazillion times of overkill.
Any thoughts? Suggestions? Recs?
