Otter's Rock

I was raised on original Trek (since before I could remember watching it) and then TNG in high school, so I was pretty set on that older format. DS9 tried to break away from that and start following a Bablyon 5 style model with the continuous storylines and added complexity and so on. While that isn't exactly a bad thing-- I appreciate it a bit more now, and have enjoyed it in other shows as it's become more the rule than otherwise in thinking-person's science fiction-- it was an unwelcome surprise in my comfort-scifi of the time. If that makes any sense?
