Livejournal down--attacked by political opponents

So, for those of you wondering why LJ is being wonky lately, it's because they are experiencing DDoSes, which look to be politically motivated--in other words, targeted against certain political figures in Russia who blog on LJ.  Someone wants to shut them down, and to do it they attack the whole site.  Also, they use spam bots not to sell stuff but to drown out discussion.  (Some more about bots.)

In conclusion, the problems that LJ has been experiencing are proof that they are, in this circumstance at least, the Good Guys.
