Fic Rec: Of Queens, Knights, and Pawns

You guys FAIL SO HARD.  How, how, how, how, HOW has NOBODY recced this fic to me?  This is like, my JAM.  It is what I have been waiting YEARS for.  It is a 200k word (for now) Star Wars time travel AU where Leia goes back in time from the end of TFA to the beginning of ANH.  And changes everything.  It is a WONDERFUL story, an incredibly fresh and novel take on one of my favorite tropes, the characters are so wonderfully written (and you can tell the author has a great grasp on the characters to get them so well in situations that are so different from what they were in the original timeline), THIS FIC IS SO AWESOME AND YOU NEED TO READ IT NOW.

(If you're not fond of WIPs, it doesn't end on a cliffhanger or anything.)

(Also, the summary is in 1st person, but that's because it's dialogue from the first chapter--the story isn't written in 1st person, if that's a dealbreaker for you.)

I found a somewhat interesting, but not as long, story that is also a WIP that involves Leias from alternate timelines switching places. Not quite as deftly written, but still good. I'm trying to decide if I want to rec it (I almost never rec WIPs), but since it has Ahsoka as Leia's Jedi mentor in another timeline, I was still eating it up with a spoon.

I've been following that one, and enjoying it! But I don't rec long time travel until it's marked complete, because I've been burned too many times by other people's ideas of how that sort of story should end. :)

At this point, I don't really care much how it ends, because there's just SO MUCH GOODNESS in what's already there. I mean, sure, I'd be disappointed if it was bad, and happy if it was good, but if it was disappointing I'd just read everything but the end, you know?

Good Leia fic is hard to find, which is why I was so thrilled to find this. Alas, I have no other long!fic focusing on Leia to recommend.
