Jewish Comics Day

You have all heard the terribly, terribly antisemitic thing Marvel has just done, yes?  Wherein they made Cap a Hydra!Nazi?  Thus shitting over the entire reason his creators made him?  And their Jewish heritage?  And turning the Shoah into sensationalist fodder to sell comics?

In reaction to that, yesterday was Jewish Comics Day.  Lots of great fic, art, and meta about Jewish comic book characters and creators was made and recced yesterday.  The tumblr tag is here and the AO3 collection is here.  Go check it out!

If you are a comics person, please boycott any comic with Steve Rogers in it, and tweet/email Marvel telling them why.  Yes, we all know this will turn out to be mind control or an alternate universe or something like that, but that doesn't change the fact that it is really, really a terrible thing to do and Marvel will only realize that if they get hit in the pocket book about it.

I already dropped Sam Wilson's comic, because Nick Spencer is doing that one too. Never thought Marvel would go this far.

Ugh! He's got his filthy paws all over SAM WILSON, too?

Yes, it was a weird comic. Sam came out to the public as a socialist, I think? Steve wasn't a big fan of it, which didn't correlate with what I've heard about him. I'm very behind on comics due to money issues, so I don't know what's happened recently.

Makes me glad I never got into the comics to begin with. There's aiming to shake up your readers... and then there's dropping a rock on them from orbit. What an offensively tone deaf thing to do, even if it does get undone somehow later.
