Fandom, you have fallen down on the job!  This is one of the most awesome crossovers I've ever read, why has it not been recced everywhere so that I can see it?  The story is good, it's well-written, but the incredibly awesome thing is the worldbuilding.  This story has some of the most awesome meta I've ever seen about religion, its place in the SG universe, and what it means to be Immortal in the Highlander sense.  All told within a wonderfully engaging story.  It sent me to my flappy happy place so many times.  Go read it!

I think I just assumed that anybody who knew Stargate and was susceptible to Methos had seen it already! But thank you for the reminder (and the link to the ao3 post, my old bookmark was from ff.net) - it's always worth a re-read. Have you read Changing of the Guard and sequels? I don't want to be accused of hiding that one too. :P

I stumbled upon it while going through the Stargate fics on AO3 looking for old favorites and (hoping against hope) for something new to me. I just pulled up the tag and sorted by hit count, hoping that would bring the good stuff. Alas, the first ten pages was mostly SGA stuff with 1 or 2 SG1 characters in the background briefly, and most of the rest was crossovers. And, you know, I enjoy SGA and I love crossovers, but I wanted STARGATE SG-1, the fandom of my heart. So I was grumbling to myself.

But lo and behold, there appeared this gem!

And you know, I've read one or two of MarbleGlove's stories before, but never seen them collected all into one place. So that's how I missed this one (and several other neat ones).
