Excellent post!

I have one small correction: There are no longer any true landline phones. Even if you're using an old phone everything on the phone company's side is VOIP. My dad worked at Stennis Space Center on their phone system. The last thing he did before retirement was to swap their system over to fully VOIP. They were a late holdout because of hurricane season. The system had to be changed over to the newer protocol because the infrastructure for the old style of phones literally no longer exists. (Which is a problem every hurricane season when the cell phone towers get knocked out/ lose power/ are overwhelmed by the number of calls trying to get through. This was pointed out by a lot of people, but VOIP is cheaper to maintain/run.) ((Hospitals get radios and a handful of satellite phones to call for help during hurricanes. Spouse works in IT for one and has done ride out crew.))
