When I was just starting grade school in Manitoba in the early 1970s, VISA was still known as Chargex. Apparently, this was a Canada-specific thing, organized by five of the federally-chartered banks of the time: Toronto-Dominion, Royal, CIBC, Banque Canadienne Nationale, and the Bank of Nova Scotia (now ScotiaBank). The gold-white-navy blue stripes were already part of the corporate identity, of course. And I do remember imprinters.
