I know! And sure, they should have done better! But dumping on a minority-focused show for not being the perfect minority-focused show is not going to actually lead to better overall representation. And if you're going to jump on people, you should jump on the people who are actually responsible and not the one who happens to be the most famous.
As with Hamilton, the problem isn't that the movie exists as it does. The problem is the larger context in which movies with decent representation are rare. If there were a wide variety of mainstream media featuring diverse Latine characters (white, Black, mestizo, and every other variation), this movie would be just fine. The solution is not to jump on the one movie that's at least half-assing diversity, it's to jump on all the ones that DON'T.
