Since my brother in the Navy never calls me when he's on shore, much less at sea ...

... here are a few pics of his ship, the USS Abraham Lincoln, on its current deployment.

(Oct. 8, 2010) Lighting flashes as the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72) transits the Strait of Malacca.

(Oct. 16, 2010) Security forces personnel fire a Dazzler on the fantail of the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln (CVN 72). The Dazzler can be used for signaling or as a non-lethal deterrent to hostile force approaching the ship. The Abraham Lincoln Carrier Strike Group is deployed supporting maritime security operations and theater security cooperation efforts in the U.S. 5th fleet area of responsibility.  (Of course, my brother never gets to play with the cool toys like this, as he is stuck in the bowels of the ship working on the reactor.)

So, these would be the superior officers my brother grumbles about when I see him.
